A blog is nothing but a website that is maintained and updated regularly, usually by a single person. The content of a Blog will mainly include regular descriptions of events supported with graphics and video along with comments from other users. A blog can be considered as personal online dairy. Most of the blogs are textual in nature, but nowadays other types of blogs like Video Blogs, Music blogs, Art blogs are also becoming popular. Unlike regular websites, creating a blog is a simple task; since it does not need to too much customization and many free templates are available that serves the purpose. When it comes to creating your blog, there are three options. It depends on whether you want to earn from your blog or setup one as a hobby. There are many free blogging services like Typepad, Blogger, and Live Journal etc. This is the best option for amateur bloggers and those who are not very serious about their blogs. You need to sign up with the blogging service and customize the blog as per your wish. It takes just few minutes to setup. However, there are two issues 1. You won't get the blog in your own domain name. It will be usually like someblog.blogspot.com. This will be a problem if you ever decide to move the location to your own domain name. 2. These blogging services reserve all the rights and can remove your blog without notice. All the effort may go in vain if it happens. Initially to get hang of blogging, you can create a blog account from these sites. Self Installation: You need to register your own domain name and web space (to host your server) from hosting services provider like godaddy.com, Zappyhost.com etc. Then you can download software that can be installed on your server to create a blog. These are called blog ware - example Wordpress. After installation, you need configure the blog and then you can start blogging. Pre-installed - Once you sign up with the hosting provider, you get a readymade blog with your domain name and you can start blogging instantaneously. You don't have to worry about creating a blog; everything will be done for you. The disadvantages of free blogs and remotely hosted blogs are 1> You won't be having full control over them. 2> The blogging service can remove the blogs without any notice. Therefore, it is better to register and create a self installed blog.
